February 2024

I have a 2 wonderful heart patterns for a quick loved up make :-). You can combine them into a blanket or a table mat too! The Lovely Heart Coaster is a simple beginner-friendly heart motif that can be done in a flash with some scrap yarn. And if you would like to challenge yourself a bit, you can try the Tunisian Heart Coaster that uses the same techniques as the Lovely Heart Coaster, but takes it up a notch.

And finally, I finished up the written pattern for the Cozy Corner Blanket. This is a wonderful super bulky blanket that is super soft and squishy and can be done in a few evenings! Featuring square pattern, this baby is worked with all colours attached at once, so I would suggest that you may want to work on this while at home unless carrying 5 large balls of yarn is your thing πŸ™‚

Adding to my knitting adventures, I have finally completed and written up my second knitting blanket pattern, Sarah J Blanket and a handy washcloth, Abi Washcloth pattern that was inspired by the Abi Baby Blanket pattern and is basically a miniature version of the blanket :-). You can use it as a gauge swatch or a starter knitting project- simple knits and purls!

January 2024

Wishing you a Happy New Year! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas period with some rest and lovely food! I had worked over December on a few patterns that I will now be publishing in the new year. We are starting with my favourite pattern of 2023- Daniel Diamond Blanket. This is a similar pattern to Mishelka Blanket in that it is made in panels from bottom up. But while Mishelka Blanket had a simple heart motif, Daniel Diamond Blanket takes this blanket construction to another level! The colourwork is worked over 3 x 3 squares giving a repeating stitch pattern that can be amended easily to a different size by adding square patterns horizontally and vertically or changing the number of stitches per square. And what is more, I will be running a CAL for this blanket in March 2024. So if you would like to create this blanket along other makers, learn a new skill and have fun while doing it, then join in! And a little bird told me that there will be some lovely prizes for crochet lovers!

November 2023

Temperatures have plummeted and this is the true sweater weather, handmade accessories heaven, tea and blanket time! So what better way to celebrate it than with a blanket pattern! I designed the Modwen Baby Blanket pattern for my son who turned 3 this year and since we are having a little tradition of going of my kids getting blankets for their birthdays, I could not stop myself (I wasn’t too hard to be honest :-)). The blanket is worked in chunky weight yarn and 9 mm TC hook, so it grows quickly, the stitch pattern and colour changes make it interesting for beginners, yet it allows you to relax. I would definitely class it as TV and chill type of project.

The end of November was a really big deal for me as I squeezed in an extra pattern and this was my first knitting pattern! I had the sample made for months and months, however it took me a while to gear up to write it. But, here it is! :-). The Abi Baby Blanket is a beginner-friendly knitting pattern that only uses knit and purl stitches- perfect for knitting newbies who need to get the muscle memory.

October 2023

October, the time of warm autumn (if we are lucky), building up excitement about upcoming festive season, makers from all over the world getting ready for markets and of course, long evenings with some extra yarn craft time! The clocks are going back so the one hours of extra sleep can be easily turn into an extra hour of crocheting! Yay!

I have published a bit of both on my blog, a lovely beginner friendly Tunisian crochet placemat, Baroco Placemat, that is an ideal project to have a go at stranded colourwork in Tunisian crochet :-). I think you can finish one in a few evenings and have a table decor ready for a festive feast!

The second project I published this month is Japandi Lace Shawl, also made in Tunisian crochet that I created for a Hobbii Yarn design challenge. The theme was to create a item in the Japandi esthetic, a fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian elements to achieve beauty in simplicity and style. I only used 2 stitches throughout the whole project. Well, technically only one, Tunisian knit stitch, combined with yarn overs. I spiced it up with uneven increases to create asymmetrical shape.

September 2023

The summer is now over and although we are currently experiencing a heatwave in the UK with temperatures soaring up to 30 degrees C, it is inevitable time for some cozy autumn and winter accessories. And I’ve got just what you need!

I may have already planned way ahead and finally wrote up the pattern for Christmas placemat I designed last year πŸ™‚

Who wouldn’t like to get an early start on all their festive home decor to decorate all those special places with some red and green? Well the Festivities Placemat will surely get you some compliments from invited and uninvited guests! πŸ™‚ It is made in Tunisian crochet, in Tunisian Full Stitch in particular, throughout with some easy-peasy shaping to get that perfect rectangle!

I’ve also published a lovely crochet cowl for beginners, the Holiday Memories Cowl that has got a bit of texture and uses a variety of crochet stitches, so that makes it a lovely first project for beginners. The cowl is worked flat and is seamed at the end.

Next, I have a bulky Tunisian crochet hat, the Radley Tunisian Hat, project for you. This one is made using Cascade Yarn, and what a treat it is to work with this merino wool! The cables are all leaning in one direction, so even though it is intermediate project, you can surely give it a go even if you never worked cables in Tunisian crochet before! Working the hat in 2 colours makes it fun and there is no end to the different colour combinations as the yarn is available in amazing colour palette. And who says you can’t use 3 colours? Whatever makes you happy! πŸ™‚

August 2023

Great weather, lovely cool drink and a crochet project- that is simply what an ideal summer looks like for me! Of course, there are all the other responsible things we do as adults, but who cares about that! So what is new? I’ve finally got around writing up and publishing my pillow case project that I designed for Hobbii almost two years ago! Talking about a long pipeline for pattern writing haha.. How easily it is to get distracted with some new yarn and more project ideas. So here is it: Limelle Cushion is finally on my blog! Is is fairly easy stranded colourwork project- the floats are on the inside so you don’t need to worry about small inconsistencies or trapping the lose floats! Win-win situation πŸ™‚

And just before the summer said bye-bye, I published a quick autumn/fall accessory that is a delight to make and definitely gets you compliments of your crochet and knitting friends- the Ebun Headband. It is based on my all time favourite colour pattern that I love to use and I incorporated in several of my designs already! Once you start with it, why not continue with the Ebun Hat and Cowl? πŸ™‚ Keep those ears toasty when temperatures plummet!

July 2023

July has come around way to quickly! isn’t this what usually happens about mid-way through the year? I imagine the first months of a year as going up on a rollercoaster.. where the days pass slowly, sometimes almost painfully slowly before being thrown downwards where all you can do it to scream and hold tight.. Well, and crochet too of course! :-). We have a relaxing project scheduled for July- Cottage Pouffe– delightful Tunisian crochet project with a bit of colourwork and assembling at the end. You can play around with colour for this one!

June 2023

From June onwards, I will be slowing down publishing patterns a little, I will be publishing 1 pattern every 3 weeks as suppose to every 2 weeks. I will be focusing on adding video tutorials to all of my old patterns, improving my blog and working on some new designs, so lots will be still happening! The next pattern I will publish will be the Very Peri Tee. This is my darling and it is my most worn design. It is based on the Puffs and Crosses Lace Shawl stitch pattern with some gentle armhole and neckline shaping. It is still suitable for beginner as the shaping is minimal.

May 2023

May! I love this month! Perhaps because it is my birthday month, or just generally the Spring is usually well on its way, temperatures are in 20ties, everything is in bloom, should I go on? This month I will be publishing 2 of my favourite patterns, the Verglas Shawl first and Melissa Throw for my birthday.

A bit of background about both:

The Verglas Shawl was in my sketchbook for ever! It is a simple chevron lace shawl, but something about the stitch pattern pulled on my heart strings from the very beginning! I submitted proposal for this shawl to Interweave Crochet and to my astonishment it got accepted! I had wanted and hoped to have some of my designs published with the IC forever.. probably since I started designing. It was first accepted for their Spring issue and later moved to the last published issue in Autumn. Talking about bitter-sweet feelings! I just made it! I wish the magazine was still being published as it was amazing!

The Melissa Throw was published in Happily Hooked Magazine in Feb 2023 and this was my last commission for them as they also shut the proverbial door soon after. I regularly designed for HHM and in fact, had multiple designs published throughout 2022. I loved the whole team, it was pure joy to work with Courtney and her team. This one was a shocker.

Melissa Throw is one of those projects that seem much more complicated than they are. Surprisingly, it is 8 stitch and 8 row repeat! That is it! I would almost class it as Netflix and chill type of project! Well… close enough hahaha.

I also filmed a YouTube tutorial to come with the written pattern:

So, which one are you going to make?

April 2023

Now is a great time to start working on some transitional garments and I may just have one for you- the Laura Cardigan!

This light cotton/acrylic mix cardigan was published with Happily Hooked in 2022. It has got 3/4 kimono style sleeves and light lacy texture! It has got simple dropped-sleeve constructions without any shaping, so even beginner crocheter can enjoy the project without having to worry about decreases or increases! Add crab stitch border and voila you have you very own Laura Cardigan!

I have a video tutorial to explain the basic stitch pattern, although it is not a full pattern tutorial:

March 2023

This month is all about giving in our family, it is my daughter’s birthday and Mothers’ day! Hence I’ve decided to self-publish the Ela Facecloth Set– a beautiful self-care set that is a real treat for all those hard-working mums! These are 4 facecloths, each with different stitch combination worked in co-centric squares.

Mishelka Blanket was a long time coming, I’ve shared countless pictures and progress videos on my social media pages and I published the pattern at last!

This pattern also come with a YouTube tutorial:

I am planning a brand new pattern release for my little one’s birthday, all I can say for now is that it may or may not be a blanket pattern (wink wink). We all love a good blanket pattern, don’t we?

If you would like to see a sneak-peaks of the pattern, make sure that you follow me on Instagram, Youtube and Pinterest!

February 2023

February is traditionally all about love love love… There can’t be enough pink or hearts.. or? I’ve designed the Sweetheart Placemat to take your dining from nice to fabulous! It is a quick placemat pattern that is far from ordinary. It is done in Tunisian Simple Stitch throughout with some colourwork to keep it interesting.

So, what is the latest hot off the hook pattern in January 2023?

I’ve self-published my Siesta Throw that was featured in Happily Hooked Magazine previously; you can find the pattern in full on the blog here, and printable PDF on Ravelry here. This is the ideal chill pill project where you want to crochet but pay more attention to your TV show or an audiobook. It is 2 stitch 1 row repeat- it can’t get any simpler! I love using colour block technique using 3 colours, but sky it the limit! And who said you can’t use only 1 colour?

The pattern comes with YouTube tutorial too!

I’ve published 2 new stitch pattern tutorials in January, both create a stunning texture, so they are ideal for blankets and winter accessories.
