Tunisian Crochet Stitch and Pattern Video Tutorials

Welcome to my video tutorials page, I hope you will find some useful resources here. As someone clever once said, a picture is worth a thousands words. I would add that a video of a technique or a stitch is worth even more! I myself struggled with books and magazines for the longest while until I found a wealth of knowledge on YouTube and this has been a truly pivotal moment on my crochet journey.

Hence I decided once I learned a stitch or two to pass all I know (and still learning!) to those like me who learn the best by seeing something being done rather than a sea of words or static pictures.

Please feel free to post a comment with suggestions of other crochet stitches or techniques that you would like to learn.

I have also started creating step by step tutorials for my patterns and gradually make these for my older patterns too. If you are interested in any specific pattern, please feel free to drop me a line and I may bump it up on my content calendar.

I will be adding new videos to this page as I create them for my YouTube channel, so don’t forget to check back regularly for the latest content.

Tunisian crochet

Tunisian crochet is a type of crochet that is worked with a special Tunisian crochet hook; this can be either single or double ended with or without a cable. Beware! This technique is highly addictive. You can create an amazing pieces just using Tunisian Simple Stitch and colourwork.

Tunisian crochet is worked in forward and return pass with the right side always facing. The videos below enable you to learn the basic stitches and techniques of Tunisian crochet.

Tunisian crochet Foundation row

This is the simplest way to start a new Tunisian crochet project, however if you would like to go beyond the basics, the video below shows you some other techniques how to start your crochet or Tunisian crochet project.

Tunisian Simple Stitch

All lovers of Tunisian crochet probably fell head over heels with Tunisian crochet because of the look of Tunisian Simple Stitch. You can only learn and use this one Tunisian crochet stitch and create stunning and varied projects for the rest of your days. I have created a few videos on Tunisian Simple Stitch over the years, each looking at the stitch from a different angle and adding tips and tricks as I explored and learnt more.

Tunisian Purl Stitch

Tunisian Purl Stitch looks very much like Purl Stitch in knitting, hence the name. Although I do like the way it looks on it’s own, I much rather prefer it in combination with other stitches- you can find some examples further down below.

Tunisian Knit Stitch

Yet again, another stitch that looks very similar to knitting, however the properties of fabric crocheted Tunisian Knit Stitch has got very different properties. To start with, it is very thick and curls a lot!

Tunisian Full Stitch

Tunisian Full Stitch is strictly not one of basic stitches, because it is worked in 2 row repeats. However, since majority of crocheters consider it to be one of basic Tunisian crochet stitches, I included it in this section. To start with, looking at this stitch really makes you think what craft was it made by. And that is the beauty of Tunisian crochet, it is neither this nor that, it has got a bit of crochet, a bit of knitting, and all together it is something unique and unpredictable.

Tunisian Reverse Stitch

I think Tunisian Reverse Stitch is one of those basic stitches that don’t get much attention, however I love to use it instead of Tunisian Purl Stitch.

If you prefer to have the all basic information in one video, I have created a few masterclass videos so you don’t have to click through a sea of shorter videos if you would like to have a comprehensive information; feel free to bookmark them for reference!

When it comes to Tunisian crochet, it is all about the looks! Many shy away from it because of it’s dreaded curl, but I have a handy video talking about everything you can do (and will do! :-)) to defeat it and make your Tunisian crochet projects looking fabulous!

If you’ve seen any of my patterns, you would notice that I love using colour! I thought many times to stick just with one colour scheme, however it only lasted as till my next yarn shopping! I love using different techniques to create beautiful and intricate colourwork and I created a few comprehensive videos talking about the basics and beyond basics of colourwork.

Once you’ve mastered the basic stitches, it is time to move onto some stitch combinations and patterns!
