Jolie Blanket

Jolie Blanket, textured knitted blanket, is bulky knitted blanket that is a fantastic project for beginner knitters. You will get plenty practise of knit and purl stitches in sections depicting diamonds alternated with plain sections of stockinette stitches.

The blanket size is most suitable for toddler or a small child, however it is easily adjusted to smaller or larger size.

Skills required:

To create this beautiful textured knitted blanket you will need to master (or already know) these stitches and techniques:

Long tail cast on (CO), knit stitch (K), purl stitch (P), bind-off (BO), blocking.

Skill level:

Finished measurements:

The final textured knitted blanket measurements (blocked):

90 cm x 95 cm (approx. 35.5” x 37.5”)

Materials and tools:

To get the exact look as on the pictures of my textured knitted blanket, you will need:

  • (#2017) Stone 2 skeins (B),

5.5 mm (US size 9) circular needles with 31.5” (80 cm) cable or size to obtain the gauge

Tapestry needle

Scissors

Gauge:

The colourwork knitted blanket has got blocked gauge as follows:

12.5 sts x 17 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) over blanket st pattern

The gauge is not essential for this pattern; however it will impact the amount of yarn needed to complete the project

Gauge helps you to understand how the project turns out in terms of the final size. If you would like to achieve the exact size of the final project as in the instructions above, you gauge needs to match exactly to the above.

If you get more stitches and/or rows than stated above using the exact needle size as per instructions, your final project will turn out smaller. Conversely, if you get less stitches and/or rows than stated above using the exact needle size as per instructions, your final project will turn out bigger.

To make adjustments, if you get more stitches and/or rows, you can try using bigger needle size to get closer to the desired size. Conversely, if you get less stitches and/or rows, you can try using smaller needle size to get closer to the desired size.

It may take trial and error to try out a few needle sizes to achieve the exact size.

Garter stitch: Work knit stitch every row.

Stockinette stitch: Work knit stitch on RS and purl stitch on WS
