The Tunisian crochet CAL pattern is available from We crochet website here .
Introduction
Have you thought of learning Tunisian crochet cables but wasn’t sure where to start? Does the terminology seem too confusing? How about converting knitting cables to Tunisian crochet? If any or all of these run through your mind and put you off this amazing technique, then hold on and don’t throw the towel in just yet! Join the Tunisian crochet CAL and come on a four-week journey with me, where we explore Tunisian crochet cables together by making the Keziah Shawl.
During the CAL, we will learn and use basic techniques used in Tunisian crochet, basic and more advanced cable techniques including the popular Honeycomb cable, travelling cables, simple colourwork, how to increase and decrease, and various ways to bind-off your work.
We top it up with tips on weaving in ends and blocking your project.
A BONUS to mastering a new technique and having this beautiful shawl (perhaps a hand-made gift for someone special in time for the upcoming holiday season?) at the end of the CAL is the opportunity to win $50 gift card from We Crochet for a lucky crocheter that sign up for the CAL here!
Once you sign up for the CAL, you will be automatically notified as the new sections come out and your pattern will be updated, so you won’t miss a stitch!
Tunisian crochet CAL Schedule
The CAL will officially start on Monday 28/10/2024 and will run as follows:
Week 1 of the Tunisian crochet CAL (beginning 28/10/2024):
Honeycomb Cables section
We will start the shawl- you will learn how to shape by increasing and decreasing on both sides of the shawl. We will cover basic techniques and stitches you will need for the shawl. Finally, we will start working on the Honeycomb cables.
Week 2 of the Tunisian crochet CAL (beginning 04/11/2024):
Colourwork section between the Honeycomb Cables and Travelling Cables sections
This will be a slightly easier week, we will add a new stitch to our repertoire and work a simple colourwork with added ribbing texture, where we change colours on the forward and return pass.
Week 3 of the Tunisian crochet CAL (beginning 11/11/2024):
Travelling Cable section and second Colourwork section
This week, we take on the travelling cable pattern! We will continue shaping the shawl with slight alterations to how we did it in the previous 2 sections.
After the this, we will continue with second colourwork section. The stitch count has grown considerably from the previous colourwork section, so you will get a fantastic practice whilst developing your muscle memory for these stitches.
Week 4 of the Tunisian crochet CAL (beginning 18/11/2024):
Loose Braid Cable section and Bind-off
You will finish off strong with yet another all over cable pattern that is worked over 4 rows. And finally, we will bind-off and talk about how to make your shawl looking great using finishing techniques including blocking.
Last but not least, this is when friends at We Crochet award one lucky crocheter with $50 gift card just in time for the Christmas!
Participating crocheters will not only benefit from detailed written instructions and video lessons for each week but will also get opportunity to participate in Facebook CAL group where they can share their progress with fellow makers and get help directly from me!
